Lambay Whiskey & GP14 World Sailing Championships
Lambay Whiskey partners with Skerries Sailing Club to sponsor the Progressive Union GP14 World championships in Skerries from Aug 11-14th.
Lambay Irish Whiskey Company prides itself on close roots to the sea, our maritime community and especially sea sports.
This year we are delighted to be one of the partners for the GP14 Progressive Union World Championships sailing from August 14th to 19th 2022 in Skerries, Co. Dublin.
Hosts Skerries Sailing Club is excited to be hosting this global event which last took place in Ireland in 1997 and memories of a great week are still alive by locals, club members & GP14s sailors that attended. The club is expecting in the region of 120-130 boats to enter and the sailors and locals are really in for a treat.
Boats from all over Ireland and the UK as well as competitors from as far as Australia, South Africa, Barbados, Ski Lanka and the USA will compete over for the week-long World Championship. The last Worlds was in Mount’s Bay in Cornwall in 2018 and has been postponed twice in Skerries in 2020 and 2021. Skerries have pedigree when it comes to GP14 world championships as the event was held there 25 years ago in 1997, an event which is still very fondly reminisced about by the older members of the fleet. It has been often described as the best GP Worlds ever and Skerries are hoping that they can repeat that memorable event.
This maritime competition boasts a top-class sailing fleet directly off the Harbour of Skerries along with many families and adventurers visiting and staying in Skerries' local area for the week-long event.
